Pitbull’s BST Hyde Park concert this July in London won’t just be a collection of bangers from Mr Worldwide’s back catalogue.
It’s also going to be an attempt to bag a Guinness World Record for him and his fans… for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.
(Yes, this would be a brand new record as there is no established holder. And yes, we diligently checked that before writing this story…)
Bald caps have become a staple for the Pitbull fandom in recent years. Attendees at the concert have been asked to “wear bald caps secured firmly on the head, with hair tucked under at the front and top (hair may hang from the back)”.
All of which is a fun headline-securing stunt, but now Live Nation is planning to make it a watchable online event too. It will be producing a 2-3-hour livestream for Pitbull’s YouTube channel on the day “presented in the style of a major sports broadcast”.
That means roaming reporters gathering “fan interviews, behind-the-scenes access, and live performance moments” as well as the presentation of the world record on-stage.
