Firebird Music Holdings came to prominence in 2023, although it had been investing in various management firms and independent labels for a year and a half before that, backed by investment firm Raine Group.
Red Light Management, JET Management, Hills Artist, Mick Management and Goodlife Management are among the companies it has bought stakes in. Now it is stepping up its ambitions with a $750m fund for acquiring music catalogues.
Raine Group is still involved as a backer, as well as investment firm Ares, with the fund focused on “artist music catalog acquisition”. The $750m includes $400m of debt financing from Pinnacle, which we last mentioned in March when it provided a credit facility to Too Lost.
As MBW noted, Firebird has already been expanding its business into partnerships with artists: an investment of “tens of millions of dollars” in Yungblud’s YB Inc early in 2025 for example.
“With the invaluable partnership of Ares and expansion of our longstanding relationship with Raine, we can evolve the level of support we provide artists and are in a position to deepen partnerships both within and beyond our ecosystem,” said CEO Nathan Hubbard.
