A new section of Spotify’s app aims to spotlight albums that are drumming up the most buzz before they come out.
‘Upcoming Releases Hub’ will be personalised for each listener, showing them albums coming soon from artists who they like. That’s as long as they have countdown pages live on Spotify, mind.
The hub also includes a ‘top 10 countdowns’ chart tracking the most pre-saved albums globally across the service. Spotify will also be publishing this chart every Wednesday on Instagram.
Which is how we know that Lorde’s ‘Virgin’ is currently the most pre-saved album on Spotify, ahead of Miley Cyrus’s ‘Something Beautiful’ and Benson Boone’s ‘American Heart’.
While albums are the focus, EPs will also qualify for the hub and chart if they have a countdown page.
