In the glocalised modern music industry, it is inevitable (and exciting) that some of the burgeoning non-Anglo industries will forge stronger links. The latest example is K-Pop giant Hybe’s expansion in Latin America.
Allkpop reported that the company is opening new offices in Mexico City, Miami and Los Angeles to beef up its LatAm efforts. There is also a new label launching called Docemil Music, and the rebranding of existing label Exile Music as Zarpazo.
“Hybe Latin America’s goal is to build an inclusive company that promotes Latin American creativity and talent,” said Hybe’s general manager in Latin America Fernando Grediaga.
“With Spanish-language talent dominating the charts and expanding worldwide market share, now is the ideal time for a global powerhouse like Hybe to enter the Latin space,” added COO Jeremy Norkin.
The latter is the co-founder of Latin music label Exile Music, which Hybe acquired in November 2023.
