UK-based music company Virtuoso Music, which is “dedicated to empowering artists, amplifying creativity and creating experiences”, has announced its expansion into India. Like in the UK, the firm will work with independent artists, songwriters, producers and publishers as well as major labels across the south Asian nation, in the areas of music creation and distribution, rights management and artist development.

Virtuoso’s USP, says the company, is that it will not only produce original music across genres and languages but “also invest directly in the marketing and infrastructure behind each release, ensuring talent is backed commercially as well as creatively”. Additionally, it will help artists and rights holders “manage and grow their catalogues, establishing structured pathways to international markets through sync licensing, brand partnerships and strategic music placement”.

In some cases, it will share the bulk of the revenue, including those attributed to the master recordings, with the acts. “We believe the future of the music ecosystem lies in ensuring that the people who create music have a genuine share in the success of their work,” says Virtuoso Music’s head of new business and music, Sahaj Miya.

While he declined to share the names of the musicians it’s signed in the UK or in India so far, he told Music Ally that they will be announcing “key artist partnerships” in the coming months, and that the first wave of releases, spanning music in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu, is scheduled for early next year.
