In mid-May, Amazon Prime Video launched the first season of their new show Off Campus, which instantly became a global hit. The series reached 36 mil viewers in its first 12 days, becoming the platform’s third biggest debut series ever.
The show features various syncs, through which the soundtracked artists have seen a big upsurge in their music. The syncs include a string of classic rock alongside alt-pop tracks from upcoming artists, who are actively jumping on the momentum to connect more deeply with a growing fanbase.
“Bed on Fire” by G Flip is shaping up to be the biggest sync placement of the show, thanks to a placement during a key scene between the two romantic leads. After the scene drove a 4,263% surge in streams for the track, G Flip posted a short intro video showcasing the creation process.
“Sue Me” by Audrey Hobert is another standout sync, which saw a surge of over 103% in streams. Adding to previous traction on TikTok, Audrey’s team is jumping on the new momentum by partnering up with key mainstream creators.
Class notes from Off Campus
Ride the sync wave. To actively create content around the sync, optimise digital platforms and invest in advertising or creator spend. Off Campus will likely stay big in the coming weeks, so it’s the perfect time to make a few content pieces around the show. It doesn’t have to be the show’s biggest sync, either: see what Griff did with her post of a simple video playing piano.
Keep an eye on the second season. Syncs can be one of the biggest game changers for developing artists. Off Campus’s second season was renewed before the first season even aired. If you’re working with a new alt-pop artist now, a sync-oriented plan could majorly pay off in artist development. Consider reaching out to show music supervisors.
